Anthony Skalkos
Myotherapist & Remedial Massage Therapist
They say life begins at 40 — and for me, it truly has. Over the past two decades, my professional and life experiences — especially becoming a father — have led me to create Chiron’s Hands.
With the opening of our Sydney Road clinic, my partner and I have brought our separate practices together into a single, synergistic space, offering holistic massage, energy healing, yoga classes, and intentional wellness experiences. Chiron’s Hands Myotherapy and Sanative Sanctuary now operate under one roof, integrating clinical musculoskeletal care with holistic embodiment practices. Together, we are committed to accessible, trauma-informed healing that prioritizes sustainable, long-term wellbeing over short-term trends. Our approach is grounded in depth, continuity, and relational care — addressing the root causes of imbalance through evidence-informed modalities, supporting meaningful, lasting outcomes for our clients, and restoring trust and integrity within the wellness space.
My career began in community recreation management with the YMCA, where I was devoted to building strong people, families, and communities — honouring the connection between body, mind, and spirit. Even while working in management, I felt the pull toward more embodied work and began personal training on the side, knowing deep down that a desk and computer screen weren’t where I was meant to stay.
I went on to pursue a Master’s in Wellness at RMIT, which led me into studying Integrative Psychotherapy at IKON Institute. I was drawn to the intimacy and transformation of face-to-face therapeutic work — the meaningful, often magical process of witnessing human healing unfold.
Yet as a psychotherapist, particularly when working with trauma, it became clear that healing was not just a cognitive process — it lived in the tissues, the breath, the nervous system. As the saying goes, the body keeps the score.
So I sought mentorship from the most skilled bodyworker I knew — someone who had treated me for 20 years and had been practising longer than I’d been alive. I asked him to teach me his craft. He agreed, jumped up on the table and said, “Go for it.” With equal parts fear and reverence, I placed my hands on his body — and I’ve been using them to support healing ever since.
While apprenticing under Michael Rigby, I completed my Remedial Massage and Myotherapy studies at the Australian College of Fitness and Bodywork and began practising at The Urban Alchemist in Carlton. I now work from Brunswick, creating space for both my clients and my growing family, allowing me to balance my devotion to healing with time alongside Athena.
Chiron’s Hands and Sanative Sanctuary together represent the convergence of our journeys — psychotherapy, movement, mentorship, family, and partnership — woven into a space where intuitive, skilled, and deeply present bodywork meets holistic wellness.

Philosophy
The name Chiron’s Hands is inspired by Chiron, the wounded healer — a Greek mythological figure who embodied both knowledge and compassion.
I believe pain is not simply something to suppress, but something to understand.
In practice, this means:
Listening before treating
Treating cause rather than compensation
Supporting long-term resilience, not temporary relief
My role is not just to reduce discomfort, but to help you restore strength, movement confidence, and body awareness.
